Before I begin this review, I'd just like to clarify that I am in no way being endorsed by the brand, nor am I intentionally helping to advertise it. I merely just wanted to share my experiences of it.

Any beauty Blogger/Vlogger out there will tell you that charcoal peel off masks are all the rage at the moment as they promise to seamlessly lift off blackheads without hours of steaming and exfoliating. This, at first, sounded a little too good to be true and when that is the case, I'm not usually very keen to try it. However, after watching demonstrations of it and seeing such great and satisfying results, I decided to give it a go.

I wear a full face of makeup to work every weekday, so I tend to get a lot of oil and dirt building up in my pores, despite the cleansing routine I have every night. This is why it's important that I have a good product that can deep clean my face at least twice a week with to avoid spots and impurities. Recently, I've felt that my exfoliator and cleansing masks just haven't been enough and this is what inspired me to look for something more.

I decided to try JorgObé because frankly I was inundated by the advertising for it on sites such as Instagram and Facebook. But it was little wonder that this was the case as, after doing a little research into the brand and its reviews, it seemed like a viable choice. Purchasing the product from their official website prices it at £29.98 (£26.00 + £3.98) including the shipping fee to the United Kingdom (shipping costs may vary for your country) so this product is a little on the pricey side. The ordering process was very easy though and the delivery of the product was super efficient - well within the stated 14-day period.

One thing I immediately noticed about the product was the simple, yet classy packaging (this can be seen in the header photo of this post) and a clearly stated "shake well before use" instruction across the box. My order also came with two samples: one of JorgObé's award winning White Tea Balancing Cream and a two-in-one scrub mask.

When first applying the mask, I completely misjudged the amount I needed and also the way in which to use the mask...fail! I opted to try out a full-face mask but applied a layer that was too thin to peel off, so I ended up washing it all off instead. I would recommend applying it as in the photo above and using a small to medium amount (around the size of a 50p/$1 piece). You don't want to apply a layer that is too thick as it won't dry properly and you won't be able to peel it off as successfully.

As you apply the product to your face you get quite a strong smell of alcohol which mildly irritated my eyes for a few seconds, but this fades after a few minutes. You'll also need to apply this quite quickly to your face as it starts drying almost immediately. I'm quite lazy so I prefer to just use my fingers to apply the mask but a small, flat brush will work too if you want a neater application. Once you have applied this to the desired areas, you leave the mask on for a guideline 20-25 mins but you may need longer. It's best to gently tap your face with the pads of your fingers after 20 minutes and judge it from there.

Once the mask is settled, it's time for the fun part - peeling! Gently scratch at a corner of the mask and pull as slowly as you can, taking the majority of mask with you if you can. I found that you don't get a completely clean peel - small bits will get left behind but this doesn't matter too much. When I first peeled off my mask, I didn't really see an overwhelming result but this may have been due to the fact I applied the mask to my whole face and consequently kept breaking it. I definitely did see that blackheads had stuck to it though, especially around the nose area, so I reckon when done properly this should produce better results. After cleaning off the residue, my skin definitely felt softer afterwards and on closer inspection did seem to be much cleaner.

Some brands offer similar products to the JorgObé at a cheaper price and some beauty bloggers have even come up with DIY recipes using activated charcoal tablets and PVA glue which you can conjure up for less than £10. My skin can be easily irritated, however, so I opted against this option. But I would say that this is honestly a product worth investing in and can last quite a while as you only need to use this once or twice a week.

Overall, I would say that this is a good product worth investing in and has lived up to the positive reviews. Compared to other blackhead removing products I've used in the past I would say that this is the only product that has evidently pulled out dirt from my pores and left my face feeling more clean. If anything, it's a such a fun product to use because who doesn't love that satisfying feeling of peeling out the dirt!

It’s not often that people begin a new year on a sombre tone, but today I make an exception. Today I lost a hero.

I remember hearing of and seeing David Bowie on screen for the very first time. Sprawled across the carpet on my stomach in front of the TV, head rested on the palms of fisted hands, the familiar guitar riff of the Top of the Pops theme tune begins to play.

In the background, my dad offers a brief history of the show and its purpose which falls on my 7 year-old deaf ears. A few minutes into the show and the next performer begins their song. The camera is zoomed into an elegant hand softly strumming the introduction to Starman on a light blue guitar. As the camera focuses and the opening verse begins, it zooms out to reveal the most mythical, majestic looking creature with a bright orangey-red mullet wearing a gold, blue and red patterned jumpsuit. He was unlike any human I had ever seen before in my life; hell, unlike any fictional character I’d seen either. He was just so fascinating. I remember being unsure whether he was male or female; asking why his hair was red; asking why he was wearing a ‘leotard’. My constant questioning drove my dad to one day dig up his old 80’s compilation cassettes and various Now That’s What I Call Music… CDs. I had now entered into a new world where David Bowie existed and what a world it was.

Bowie was so much more than just an artist. He was an inventor, a pioneer, a chameleon (comedian, corinthian and caricature…) but above all an inspiration. What I admired most about him was that he was not afraid to experiment, to be different. He wasn’t doing what was cool at the time in fashion or music. He wasn’t conforming to social ideals. In fact he couldn’t give a rat’s backside what people thought of him and that’s what made him just so damn rock and roll. Without him there would probably be no Boy George, Queen, Bon Jovi, Gaga, New Order or even Gaultier. When you think about it like that, you realise the impact he’s had on our culture.

Whilst I could go on for pages and pages about how Bowie was an absolute genius, the evidence is all in his legacy. His music, films, literature and artwork speak masses about just how unique and talented he was. I really don’t think that there will ever be another one quite like him. He was, is and always will be a true Rockstar. Even though millions of fans around the world will be mourning the loss of an icon, we have one thing to smile about: the world is 4.5 billion years old and yet we were lucky enough to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

RIP David.

Hello there!

My name is Victoria and I am 23 years old. Here I am on the right, pictured with my cousin last month. I live in London and I work in Advertising as a Commercial Executive for ITV. I was born in Hong Kong and I am Chinese, Irish and Scottish.

I have always enjoyed writing and studied English & Film Studies at University. I have dabbled in blog writing over the past few years, writing mostly about my passions - film, music and travel - but most of it was pretty bad...! So I've decided that now is the time to start afresh and get this thing going again.

When it comes to social media I am a big fan of blogs and sites such as Instagram and Pinterest, as they give me inspiration across so many things and I feel like each blog writer's voice is a friend who is there to provide an honest account of their opinions. If you're anything like me, I like to read copious reviews before I purchase or do something and quite often they heavily influence my final decision. It's because of this that I wanted to start this blog and be that voice for someone else. If I can promise anything to you, it is that all views that I express will be 100% my own and 100% honest.

I hope you enjoy reading whatever it is that I ramble on about. Unlike my past blogs I will try and keep this one as updated as I can...! Any feedback you'd like to give would be greatly appreciated. I always look for ways to improve and of course, I want to make sure my writing is actually enjoyable.

Let's do this!

Victoria
